Location Shots

Mel - those glasses are really good! :D much better than the ones i have.

I was thinking about the issues we had when storyboarding the bathroom scene and i've taken some pictures of that corridor area. I don't think i mentioned before that i have another staircase there. So we could get High Angle shots of her leaving the bathroom or walking into the bedroom. Or film it through bannisters or something. I've taken pictures and uploaded them, So if you both have a look and think about it, then on Monday we can try out diff shots and see which work/which don't.

Here they are:

Here's the clock and the fireplace in sara's room. I couldn't really take the picture properly because we have beds set up in her room atm with family coming to stay. (no worries, they'll be gone by monday) Do you think the clock works? We wouldn't have to have it on the fireplace, we could have it on the dresser, because it would match the wood. But do we think the clock works? Let me know.
"It's two minutes past eight ... "

Yep - here's the corridor. Door to your left is the bathroom, door to the right is Sara's room.

Ariel. Really high, looking directly down. It's a bit odd, but i thought i'd see what you thought.

Location - More on Alice's house.

I went around my house and re-took some of the pictures i took last time but didn't upload because the files were too big they took far too long to upload. So here they are -

When we were dicussing a high angle shot of the stairs? I should take some pictures of the stairs through the bannisters and from below as well.

These are the candle sticks i was talking about - I'm going into Enfield today so i will have a look for some red candles!

Hahahaha this pictures makes me laugh.

Street at night - as you can see it's quite well lit. But the reddy glow is due to the setting on my camera. So on Monday when we test shoot at night - we'll see if the footage is far too dark. HOPEFULLY!! it won't be! :)

I thought even the chairs in my kitchen are quite 'elegant' and would fit in well with the mise en scene.

Possible Location - Pictures from Mel's House

We chose not to use my house to film in but I thought I would post pictures up of my house and explain why:

The front of my house would have been ok, as although the door doesn't have glass in it, there are windows on either side. The stairs are in the middle, with the kitchen on our right. This would have looked quite good. However, there is a bit too much space, and it would be difficult to light, as putting all the lights in the hallway on would make it too bright but without it would be too dark.
The kitchen is a bit too bright to do the lighting we want. Also the table is too rustic to be able to be made up elegantly. Also two of the cupboard doors under the sink are damaged (there's a picture of them above) which would look really bad if we saw them in shot.
Another problem that we would have had filming at my house is that my house isn't on a street. There are gates and a long gravel drive which the guy would have to walk through and across.

Basically, I think that Alice's house and area would be a lot better to film in and would match our sequence a lot better as well, and plus she has loads of random clocks, lamps etc that would look really good in the sequence.

Idea 1 for location and Props - Pictures from Alice's house

Metronome. It ticks really loudly, so we could use the sound of the metronome and imply that it's the sound of the clock. Because the clock doesn't tick very loudly at all.

It's seriously blurry :( but the moon looked really scary above my house.

Intersting high angle shot as she comes down the stairs - i have many many more of differnt angles of the stairs...

including this one ....

Another lamp which we could use - on the table when it's set for dinner? Not very red though? Quite scary looking and 'elegant' Aarti came up with the idea of everything being very elegant and formal and yes, this lamp could work well. Although the red one is red (picture at bottom of post) it's not particularly formal.

Frame within frame - front door through a pannel of the fence. Maybe cuts away when we see him waiting for her to open the door? Just an idea.

There's a park at the bottom of my road - i don't know if i mentioned this before? But it has a long winding pathway through it, and i thought that maybe the boy could be walking through the park at one point? Lighting would be an issue though ... and as the sign says, it shuts at 1/2 4.

Another entrance to the park

The Long winding path - we could get some intersting shots here.

The corner of my road. During the phone conversation, he could turn around this corner? Because you can see the bottom of the fence so you could see him. A walk into frame kind of shot. But obviously a better shot, because my framing is crummy.
SCARY CLOCK!!! how cool is this? I have such random things in my house, but i thought we could use this clock for her to look at when she's looking at the time?
Red Lamp - it creates a reddy glow when it's dark. It would fit in with our idea of red iconography.
